The fear of theft is sadly always in the back of the mind of any motorcyclist, and when Stuart Mann was awoken at 3am after receiving a text message to his phone, his worst nightmare became reality. The 28-year-old Londoner had been sent a movement alert from motorcycle tracking specialist, Bike Trac, informing him that his motorcycle had been moved and subsequently stolen.
Within minutes, Stuart was able to pinpoint the exact whereabouts of his motorcycle, and was able to contact the police to relay the information so that they could catch the thief red-handed. All that was left to do then was sit back, wait and hope that the officers could intercept the criminal.
At 8am the same morning, Stuart received a call from the police to inform him that his beloved motorcycle had been tracked down, seized and recovered. The officer informed the rider that his motorcycle had been impounded at the station and he was free to come down and collect it whenever he was ready. It was a truly remarkable recovery that took just five hours.

On the evening of 25th November 2011, Ari Kurdi parked his Yamaha YSF R6 motorbike in the underground car park of his girlfriend’s apartment block in Norbury, south-west London. The car park was gated, covered by CCTV and, as far as Ari was concerned, extremely secure. So, imagine his surprise when, at 01:05 in the morning on 26th November 2011, he received a text informing him that his motorbike was on the move!
The text originated from the Road Angel 24 hour control centre, which had received a warning signal from the bike’s Bike Trac unit, a device capable of detecting unauthorised movement once armed, or use of the bike outside normal patterns set by the owner. Ari immediately ran to check the car park but his bike had already gone, so he went back to his girlfriend’s flat to call the police...and start up his laptop.
Using the Bike Trac online portal, Ari was able to see the route the thieves had taken with his bike and he informed the police of this upon their arrival. The police set off in pursuit and Ari crossed his fingers that his bike would be found. In the end, the waiting became too much and Ari decided he and a friend should follow the route in his car. Whilst Ari drove, his friend tracked the bike’s movements having accessed the Bike Trac Portal on his iPhone.
“The breadcrumb trail feature on the maps in the Bike Trac portal led us straight to where the bike had been hidden under a tarpaulin on a housing estate near Lewisham,” explains Ari. “In fact, we found the bike before the police did.”

a Suzuki GSX-R600, was stolen from the Camberely area of London at 12.40PM on Thursday January 5th and in just over one hour had been recovered by Metropolitan Police, who were notified by Road Angel, the makers of the Biketrac system.
Biketrac's Bill Taylor commented, "We were notified by the bike's system at 12.40 of an unexpected movement. The Metropolitan Police were quickly on the case using our technology to track the bikes movements and by 13.54 not only had the bike been recovered but an arrest had been made too. A really great result for all concerned.
The Biketrac system not only monitors a machine's exact position, but also leaves a breadcrumb trail too, helping police to identify the route a stolen machine has taken and can sometimes also lead police to addresses and individuals involved in crime.
